Housing Accommodations

Albertus Magnus, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 2008, Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Fair Housing Act of 1988, is committed to providing all students access to campus life regardless of disability status. Through the interactive process staff in the Office of Disability Services will work with students to provide appropriate accommodations as needed.

The Office of Disability Services will consult with the Office of Residential Life for all accommodation placements. The following guidelines will be followed in all instances:

  • The Office of Disability Services will follow the process for Applying for Accommodations and determine appropriate accommodations.
  • Once accommodations are approved, the Office of Disability Services will notify the Office of Residential Life and they will determine, from available spaces, which placement will best support a student’s given accommodations. Location in a certain community is not guaranteed.

The Office of Disability Services is able to approve necessary accommodations only. Preferences, such as placement in a specific residential community or roommate choice, are not covered in the accommodation process.

New Incoming Students

Incoming students are able to apply for Housing accommodations once admitted to Albertus Magnus, and are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

The deadline for new students to apply for housing applications is June 14th, 2024.

Students are able to apply for accommodations after the deadline, as needed. In these cases, if approved, the Office of Residential Life and Office of Disability Services will work to find appropriate housing. However, housing may not be available until the start of the next semester.

Current and Returning Students

Current students are asked to apply prior to April 18th for any housing accommodation needs.

If housing accommodations supersede housing and roommate preferences, it is suggested that current students with accommodations notify the Office of Residential Life if they intend on maintaining their accommodations prior to Housing Selection. If a student wishes to forego their accommodation for any reason (For example, to live in a certain building and/or with certain roommates), they should contact the Office of Disability Services to opt out of their accommodation for the following academic year.

Please note: Once opted out of, accommodations cannot be put back into place until the next semester at the earliest.
