Albertus Magnus College is located in New Haven, Connecticut: a cosmopolitan cultural center of nearly 130,000. It is located halfway between New York City and Boston. The city is boasting with award-winning professional theaters, renowned art galleries and museums. The beautiful, 50-acre, garden-like Albertus campus is in the distinguished Prospect Hill neighborhood.

An international student is anyone who holds citizenship in a country other than the U.S. as well as any U.S. citizens who have lived abroad and do not consider English as their native language.

Apply as undergraduate student if:

  • You have received your high school diploma but you have not yet completed a degree at a university or college level, you should apply as a first-year freshman.

Apply as transfer student if:

  • You have started a degree program at another university or college in the U.S., but wish to transfer your coursework credits to Albertus Magnus to complete your degree.(Please note, if you are currently studying English as a Second Language in the U.S. but have not yet completed any undergraduate coursework, you should apply as a first-year freshman. You will transfer your I-20 to Albertus Magnus once accepted.)

Apply as graduate student if:

  • You have already completed and received a Bachelor's degree from U.S. or foreign university or college and wish to pursue a Master's degree.

At the graduate level, Albertus offers ten programs in accounting, art therapy, business administration, criminal justice, education, fine arts in creative writing, human services, leadership, liberal studies, and management and organizational leadership. Yes. Albertus accepts International Baccalaureate. For IB higher level exams, scores of 4 or higher are accepted for credit. Any individual credits transferred may be applied as elective credits. Please send your IB transcript to International Admissions.

For non-native English speakers, please submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Albertus Magnus requires a minimum score of 80 for TOEFL (Our school code is 3001). Albertus requires a minimum score of a 6.0 for IELTS. Please ask your IELTS test center to send your scores directly to International Admissions at Albertus.

The SAT or ACT is not required for international students but may be submitted in place of the TOEFL or IELTS to waive the English language requirements. The Albertus Magnus code for SAT scores is 3001 and the Albertus code for ACT scores is 0549.

In order to receive your Form I-20, USCIS requires students to show proof of funds sufficient to support tuition and living expenses for an academic year. Please submit official financial documents dated within the last six months. The bank statement must be in English and on official bank letterhead.

If your spouse, parents, family member or other organization will be financially sponsoring you, it is important that you submit a current official bank statement along with an affidavit of support.

Financial aid is not available for non-U.S. citizens; however, all international undergraduate applicants are automatically eligible for the Mohun Scholarship applied towards tuition. This scholarship is $3,000- $7,000.

Additional scholarships are also available to undergraduate international students who are graduates of Catholic high schools, Catholic college preparatory schools, or Catholic colleges or universities, as well as students from any one of the 8 sister cities of New Haven! On average, admission decisions take about four weeks from the time the completed application is received. We recommend that you reach out to admissions (international@albertus.edu) to confirm that all your documents have been received.

Once you have been accepted and paid the $400 deposit to confirm your decision to study at Albertus Magnus, you will be mailed your Form I-20.

When you receive your I-20, please check for the following:

  • Your name should be spelled EXACTLY as it appears on your passport
  • Please also confirm that your birth date, country, degree program, and program dates are all correct
  • Also confirm that the Form I-20 has a signature on page 1 by Albertus Magnus

If you find any discrepancies, please notify us immediately.

Once you have been admitted and received your Form I-20, you will need to apply for a visa interview.

First, please check your I-20 and confirm the following:

  • Your name should be spelled EXACTLY as it appears on your passport
  • Please also confirm that your birth date, country, degree program, and program dates are all correct
  • Confirm that the Form I-20 has a signature on page 1 by Albertus Magnus

Once you've confirmed the above steps, you are ready to apply for your visa interview:

  • Schedule an interview with your nearest U.S. Embassy/Consulate in your country. Click here: (US Embassy) to find one nearest you
  • You MUST pay the SEVIS fee before the interview. Click here: (SEVIS FEE)
  • Prepare for your interview and bring with you the following:
    • Academic records and acceptance letter from Albertus Magnus
    • Form I-20 and printed receipt of SEVIS fee payment
    • Official financial documentation (current bank statement to show how you will pay tuition and support yourself)
    • Proof of strong ties in your country to ensure you will not remain the US upon completion of your academic studies in the U.S.

Please give the International Office at your current institution a copy of your Albertus Magnus acceptance letter along with the transfer-in form . Your current institution will then complete the form and transfer your SEVIS record to Albertus. Once we receive your SEVIS record, we will be able to create your new I-20.
