Albertus Magnus College Offers New Major: Game and Computer Arts

Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees Available in Growing Field

If you are looking for a major that fosters independent creative ability, computer programming and design, and imaginative thinking, then a degree in Game and Computer Arts could be the path to an exciting future.  Albertus Magnus College is pleased to announce this new major beginning in the fall of 2020.

Students will prepare for careers in advertising design, interactive media, game design, computer visualization, virtual reality, and 3-D computer design. Possible careers for majors in Game and Computer Arts include art director, game designer, media specialist, and special effects creator for the movie industry. According to the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median salary for those earning an undergraduate degree in Multimedia Arts and Animation or Digital Arts Production was more than $75,000 per year.

"Our new major in game and computer arts expands our ability to offer interdisciplinary and experiential learning opportunities for our students, which is a key goal of the College’s new strategic plan, Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century.  True to Albertus’ mission of providing a liberal arts-based education that prepares students for careers in a rapidly changing world together with practical skills, the new major will empower students to pursue opportunities in New Media and Interactive Art, eGaming as well as Entrepreneurship, said Albertus Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Jerome Nevins, MFA.

Albertus Magnus College, founded in 1925, is a Catholic College in the Dominican tradition.
