 Laudato Si’ Action Platform

Photo of people on bicycles at Albertus Magnus CollegeIn October 2021, Albertus Magnus President Marc Camille signed a commitment for Albertus Magnus to join the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, an international initiative sponsored by the Vatican to guide Catholic institutions in organizing action plans centered on sustainability.

As part of this initiative, the Eckhart Center sponsors programs about environmental justice, organizes projects to make Albertus a more sustainable campus, and partners with community organizations in Greater New Haven on local ecological initiatives. The first major initiative, the Falcon Bike Share, launched in late September with the goal of helping students make more connections with the New Haven area through bicycling.

We collaborate with local religious communities on faith formation and social justice initiatives.

We also host interfaith gatherings of clergy to discuss meeting today's challenges in ministry.

Building Dominican Culture on Campus

Culture building event with a speakerOne of our aims is to cultivate a culture of contemplation and action on campus. We collaborate with faculty to incorporate values of justice and peace, Catholic Social Teaching, and Dominican spirituality into students’ learning experiences. We also host a monthly gathering, Apizza with the Mystics, where students reflect upon contemplative art and poetry over New Haven pizza.
