New Haven, Conn., August 25, 2025 Albertus Magnus College is pleased to announce a gift of $1 million from the Tagliatela Family, including Albertus Board of Trustee Member Louis F. Tagliatela, Jr., his siblings Patricia and Stephen Tagliatela, and his daughter and Albertus alumna, Lauren Tagliatela ’17 M.B.A. The third Albertus gift of at least $1 million announced in the past three months, the Tagliatelas’ generous commitment will further embolden the College’s nursing programs — including its LPN to BSN pathway — by providing essential funding for scholarships, state-of-the-art equipment, and faculty resources.

Earning state approval in 2023 and launched in 2024, the nursing momentum at Albertus is intensifying. Initially sparked by two grants from the State of Connecticut’s Health Horizons Program totaling nearly $1M, Albertus nursing has quickly distinguished itself by offering individualized attention; a state of the art facility that provides real-world clinical experience in a safe learning environment; interdisciplinary study and development of critical thinking skills; and a supportive, mentoring faculty dedicated to helping students succeed. In less than two full years of nursing program existence, Albertus faculty has grown, the third cohort of traditional nursing students has been admitted, and more than 200 nursing professionals have enrolled in the groundbreaking LPN to BSN program. Adding to the excitement, the program has been granted Candidacy Status by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), a significant milestone to full accreditation.

“The Tagliatela Family has a long, distinguished history of support and engagement with Albertus Magnus College, and this latest investment in nursing is a testament to the Family’s vision and commitments,” said Albertus President Marc M. Camille, Ed.D. “I am deeply grateful for the support of the entire Tagliatela Family, and in a special way to long-serving Albertus Trustee, Lou Tagliatela, Jr., and his daughter Lauren, who we proudly claim as an Albertus alumna. The Family’s support dates back to Louis Tagliatela, Sr., who also was a dedicated Albertus Trustee, and Lauren is now a prominent member of our Business School advisory board. At this pivotal time — just a month from the official start of the Albertus 100th Anniversary Year — the Tagliatelas have once again added to their legacy of leadership.”

The College’s Tagliatela School of Business and Leadership as well as the Tagliatela Academic Center bear the Family’s name. In addition to more than a decade of service to the Board of Trustees, the late Lou Tagliatela, Sr., was a 2003 Honorary Degree recipient.

On behalf of the Tagliatela Family, Lauren shared, “We deeply believe in the power of education to transform lives, strengthen our communities, and build a more compassionate workforce. My family’s $1 million gift to Albertus Magnus College is a reflection of our commitment to that belief, and to the generations of students who will benefit from new opportunities in higher education. We are especially proud to support the College’s nursing program. In today’s world, the need for well trained, empathetic healthcare professionals has never been greater. Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system, and the demand for them continues to rise as is confirmed by employers reaching out directly to Albertus. By investing in this program, we are helping to ensure that students can pursue a meaningful, in-demand career right here in our community. For our family, this gift is not just about education, it’s about creating a ripple effect of opportunity, wellness, and service. Supporting Albertus Magnus means investing in a future where compassionate care and academic excellence go hand in hand.”
