Construction to Begin at Albertus Magnus College’s Celentano Field

Multi-use athletic area will be closed from late May to mid-August

New Haven, Conn., May 20, 2025Albertus Magnus College’s Celentano Field is undergoing a complete renovation and expansion, and Phase One of the project will begin in late May and continue through mid-August. Phase One includes replacement of the playing turf field and walking track at 700 Prospect Street in New Haven; the new facility will ensure safety for Albertus students, faculty, and staff, as well as the many members of the College’s neighboring communities who utilize the turf and walking track area.

The enhancement project is part of a $3.1 million grant from the State of Connecticut’s Community Investment Fund (CIF) and is the largest single grant in the College’s almost 100-year history. Phase Two of the project is scheduled to begin in late summer and will include construction of a small restroom building to better serve users of the turf and walking track facilities.

Atlantic Sports out of Canton, Mass., will perform the resurfacing.
