Community Leader Establishes Program at Albertus Magnus College to Advance Women’s Leadership
The Lindy Lee Gold Women in Leadership Program strengthens Albertus’ century-long tradition of empowering women
New Haven, Conn., March 9, 2026 – Albertus Magnus College is excited to announce the creation of the Lindy Lee Gold Women in Leadership Program, made possible through a generous gift from New Haven community leader and philanthropist Lindy Lee Gold. The multi-year commitment, made to the College through Gold’s charitable foundation, Amour Propre, supports Forever Albertus: The Centennial Campaign and expands the school’s efforts to provide transformative leadership development opportunities for its students.

The program will empower female students with structured mentorship from faculty, alumni, and industry professionals, as well as hands-on leadership experiences and interactive workshops. Participants will develop skills in decision-making, communication, teamwork, and ethical leadership as they prepare to navigate their careers and positively impact their communities. Designed for students of all academic backgrounds, the program will integrate curricular and co-curricular learning to provide practical, real-world leadership opportunities.
A New Haven native and longtime public servant and leader within the State of Connecticut, Gold began her career as an entrepreneur. Since 1998, she has served as a Senior Development Specialist at the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, overseeing business retention, recruitment, and expansion, and representing the commissioner on workforce and education boards, including the Governor’s Commission on Women and Girls. Gold’s extensive civic leadership includes service as an elected official, nonprofit founder, and board leader for numerous organizations advancing education, workforce opportunity, healthcare access, and community development throughout Connecticut.
“Education is a great equalizer, and programs that provide mentorship, leadership development, and community engagement give students the tools to grow and make a meaningful impact,” said Gold. “When students complete this program, they will be better equipped with the skills, confidence, and experience to influence their communities and navigate the next steps in their careers. Albertus has a long history of empowering women, and this initiative gives participants tangible opportunities to develop, learn, and thrive during their time at the College and beyond.”
“On behalf of the entire Albertus community, I offer great gratitude to Lindy for her generosity, values, and vision,” said Albertus President Marc M. Camille, Ed.D. “Lindy Gold is someone I am proud to call a friend, but so too a leader who I greatly admire. Her gift embodies the spirit of Forever Albertus and enhances leadership opportunities for our students. One hundred years ago, Albertus was founded as New England’s first Catholic residential, liberal arts college for women, to open doors to higher education at a time when opportunities for women were limited. Today, this gift continues the College's legacy of preparing women to thrive in their careers and communities, providing experiences that develop confidence, leadership, and a commitment to impact.”
The Gold Women in Leadership Program will launch in Fall 2026. By combining experiential learning, peer networking, and community engagement, it aims to cultivate a community of confident, capable women prepared to advocate for themselves, overcome challenges, and drive meaningful change in their chosen professions.
