Albertus Magnus College Names Inaugural Director of Planned Nursing Program

New Haven, Conn., April 24, 2023 – Albertus Magnus College has the distinct honor of welcoming Cynthia Jeffrey, Ed.D. on July 1, 2023 as the inaugural director of the College’s planned Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program.
With more than 20-years of experience as a nurse and over a decade of teaching and administrative experience in higher education, Dr. Jeffrey rose to the top of the pool in Albertus’ search for the ideal person to lead the College’s new program, intended to officially begin in the Fall 2024 semester. Most recently serving as Associate Director of Clinical Nursing Education at the University of Bridgeport, Dr. Jeffrey has held previous administrative and faculty appointments at St. Vincent’s College and Sacred Heart University. Dr. Jeffrey earned her Associate’s Degree of Science from St. Vincent’s College in Connecticut; her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix; her Master’s in Science in Nursing -- specializing in nursing education – from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut; and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership and Accountability and Doctoral Degree in Education (specializing in adult education) from Capella University in Minnesota.

Recently, in support of its nursing program planning, Albertus Magnus College was awarded $805,000 over three years from the Connecticut Health Horizons Program, which was launched by the State last year to increase opportunities for aspiring nurses and social workers. Albertus will utilize these funds to help launch the new nursing program as well as support funding for nursing faculty and their continuing education.
