Albertus Magnus College Welcomes Two New Board Members
Leaders Reflect Vision for Financial and Spiritual Guidance
Albertus Magnus College welcomes two new members to its Board of Trustees at a time of extraordinary change and celebration. Joining the College’s Trustees beginning in June are Albertus alumna, Hope Kingston Cahoon ’99, Partner at KPMG’s Stamford, Connecticut office and Sister Susan Olson, O.P., from the College’s sponsoring congregation, the Dominican Sisters of Peace. The two new Board members will quickly engage with current Trustees in providing important guidance and oversight. As is the case with colleges and universities around the country, Albertus is finalizing details and strategies to resume on-campus classes and events post-COVID-19, in response to the state’s phased-in Re-open Connecticut plan for higher education. The College also is planning for numerous events to celebrate its 95th Anniversary in the 2020-21 academic year, beginning the week of September 21, which will include its annual Founders Day on September 24, honoring the first day in 1925 when classes were held, and the week’s festivities will culminate with the Class of 2020’s rescheduled Commencement Ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, September 27.
“The presence of Hope and Sister Susan will be welcome and timely,” said Albertus President, Marc M. Camille, Ed.D. “We have begun the important work of implementing the College’s new strategic plan, Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century in support of our Growth Mindset, and the experiences of Hope and Sister Susan will complement those of their Board colleagues. Hope and Sister Susan champion what continues to differentiate Albertus: our Catholic identity and Dominican mission that form the core of the values- and liberal arts-based education that for nine decades has prepared graduates for a lifetime of career success and civic engagement. It is that commitment to service and having a positive impact on our community that continues to drive us and define us - from our Trustees leaders to our student and alumni leaders.”
