Albertus Magnus College Updates Response Due to Coronavirus Pandemic
Due to the swift and enormous changes that have happened in the last 48 hours regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Albertus Magnus College has taken further actions with regard to the continuity of its spring semester.
At the time of this message, no Albertus community members have been identified as having tested positive for or being exposed to the virus. But with the community’s health and well-being as a guide, and in order to attempt to bring stability into an unprecedented situation, Albertus President Dr. Marc M. Camille issued a message containing the following new decisions:
- Classes: All classes will be conducted in an online-only format for the remainder of the spring semester. As previously communicated, Professional and Graduate Studies (PGS) Mod 4 will begin on Monday, March 16, and all other classes will begin on Monday, March 23.
- Albertus Housing: To help with controlling the spread of COVID-19 and to enable students to make concrete travel plans, Albertus Residence Halls will close for the semester on March 22.
- Sports: Because of the NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference decisions to cancel spring sports championships, Albertus is following suit and all spring varsity sports are cancelled.
- Employees: The College will remain open and operations will be maintained as necessary and possible.
- Events: All scheduled campus events and activities are either postponed or cancelled through at least April 18. The most current information regarding Albertus events may be found on the College’s Coronavirus website.
As for the College’s annual Commencement ceremony, Dr. Camille stated, “My hope, our collective hope, is that we will be able to conduct our spring Commencement Exercises as scheduled and in person, on Sunday, May 17, including all traditional Senior Week and other Commencement-related events. We will closely monitor COVID-19 developments and communicate a final decision regarding Commencement as the date gets closer.”
In his message to the Albertus community, Dr. Camille also said, “I wish that the COVID-19 situation was improving versus worsening. My commitment to you is while we focus on our Albertus community’s health and well-being, we likewise will bring all of our collective efforts and innovative thinking to making the best of the circumstances impacting our nation and our community.”

Among its graduate offerings is the State of Connecticut's only Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling program, and it is just one of three schools to offer a Master of Science in Human Services. In 2025-26, Albertus is celebrating its historic 100th Anniversary and completing implementation of the Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century strategic plan, with a bold vision to "be a destination liberal arts-based college, distinguished in its interdisciplinary and experiential approach to education, rooted in Dominican values, that prepares students for lifelong civic engagement and success."
