Albertus will address the objectives of the grant – to increase the supply of individuals with in-demand technology skills and credentials – through an Applied Data Science Certificate that can be paired with any major and/or degree; and experiential learning opportunities to provide real world situations for students to apply to their classroom knowledge. And as the most diverse Catholic college in New England, and recently qualifying for Hispanic Serving Institution status, Albertus will continue to work with underrepresented populations to increase access to these high-demand, technology related roles.
“Receiving this grant is clear recognition by educators and employers that Albertus graduates are workforce ready,” said William Aniskovich, JD, Dean of the Tagliatela School of Business and Leadership at Albertus Magnus College. “Through this grant, we will further address the in-demand skills, including programming language, data analysis, and workflow management within bio/pharma in Greater New Haven.”
“We are excited to partner with Albertus Magnus College to facilitate the recruitment of students to the Applied Data Science Certificate offered at Albertus Magnus College and supported by TTA grant funds,” said Garrett Sheehan, President & CEO of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. “We are confident that the program's emphasis on cultivating problem-solving and data analysis skills will directly meet the needs of key employers and critical industries in the region who rely on data analytics.”
This is the latest in a series of grants bestowed upon Albertus. Recently, the College was awarded a $3.1 million grant from the State of Connecticut’s Community Investment Fund 2030(CIF) – the largest single grant to date in the College’s almost 100-year history. The funding will enable renovations and improvements to the Albertus Celentano Field athletic complex and the City of New Haven’s Ralph Walker Skating Rink, home to Albertus Falcons Men’s and Women’s NCAA DIII Ice Hockey teams.
About Albertus Magnus College
Founded in 1925, Albertus is a coeducational Catholic College in the Dominican tradition. Albertus' values- and liberal arts-based education is recognized by external rankings such as US News & World Report, Money, and The New York Times, and has been named a Top 10 Military Friendly School. For ten consecutive years, at least 95% of Albertus graduates have attained employment or gone on to graduate studies within six months of completing their degrees. The College has an enrollment of approximately 1,300 students across its traditional undergraduate, accelerated adult undergraduate, and graduate program levels. Proud to enroll a student body where nearly half of its undergraduate students receive Federal Pell Grants and are first-generation college goers, Albertus is known for its innovative curricular offerings, recently launching new Bachelor's degree programs in Nursing, including BSN and Connecticut's first LPN-to-BSN; General Health Sciences; Interdisciplinary Studies; and Public Health.
Among its graduate offerings is the State of Connecticut's only Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling program, and it is just one of three schools to offer a Master of Science in Human Services. In 2025-26, Albertus is celebrating its historic 100th Anniversary and completing implementation of the Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century strategic plan, with a bold vision to "be a destination liberal arts-based college, distinguished in its interdisciplinary and experiential approach to education, rooted in Dominican values, that prepares students for lifelong civic engagement and success."
