New Haven, Conn., July 16, 2024 — As Meister Eckhart famously said, “Wisdom consists in doing the next thing you have to do, doing it with your whole heart, and finding delight in doing it.”

This can also be said of those who wish to continue their education in pursuit of more personal knowledge, a new job, or a promotion at their current workplace.

As a way to further promote the importance of life-long learning, Albertus Magnus College is pleased to announce that its ongoing partnership with New Haven Promise has expanded.  It now includes opportunities for New Haven Promise alumni the chance to increase their knowledge even more by obtaining a degree through Albertus’ Professional and Graduate Studies (PGS) Division.

A 15-percent tuition discount will be provided to New Haven Promise alumni who enroll in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program offered through the Albertus’ PGS program.  This commitment will also provide access to employment and student internship opportunities through New Haven Promise as well as invitations to career fairs and other professional development events.

“As New England’s most diverse Catholic college, Albertus Magnus College takes great pride in promoting homegrown talent by making their dream of higher education more accessible and more affordable. Albertus is excited to not only continue but to expand its partnership with New Haven Promise — a testament to the quality of our program offerings as a liberal arts, values-based educational institution,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management Brian Fernandes.

"We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Albertus Magnus to include graduate programs,” said President of New Haven Promise, Patricia Melton. “Our Scholars are lifelong learners and this opportunity gives them a chance to continue their education locally, with flexibility to pursue their passions. We look forward to increasing the number of our alumni obtaining masters degrees through this program."

About Albertus Magnus College

Founded in 1925, Albertus is a coeducational Catholic College in the Dominican tradition. Albertus' values- and liberal arts-based education is recognized by external rankings such as US News & World Report, Money, and The New York Times, and has been named a Top 10 Military Friendly School. For ten consecutive years, at least 95% of Albertus graduates have attained employment or gone on to graduate studies within six months of completing their degrees. The College has an enrollment of approximately 1,300 students across its traditional undergraduate, accelerated adult undergraduate, and graduate program levels. Proud to enroll a student body where nearly half of its undergraduate students receive Federal Pell Grants and are first-generation college goers, Albertus is known for its innovative curricular offerings, recently launching new Bachelor's degree programs in Nursing, including BSN and Connecticut's first LPN-to-BSN; General Health Sciences; Interdisciplinary Studies; and Public Health.

Among its graduate offerings is the State of Connecticut's only Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling program, and it is just one of three schools to offer a Master of Science in Human Services. In 2025-26, Albertus is celebrating its historic 100th Anniversary and completing implementation of the Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century strategic plan, with a bold vision to "be a destination liberal arts-based college, distinguished in its interdisciplinary and experiential approach to education, rooted in Dominican values, that prepares students for lifelong civic engagement and success."
