Albertus Magnus College Names Director of Leadership Giving

Cherie G. Long Joins College at Pivotal Point in its History: Its 100th Anniversary

New Haven, Conn., July 23, 2025 Albertus Magnus College is pleased to announce that Cherie G. Long has joined the College as Director of Leadership Giving in the Office of Advancement. In this role, she is responsible for securing major gifts from graduates and friends of the College, while also helping to grow its leadership giving society, The President’s Associates. Long’s position comes at a critical and celebratory time at Albertus — as it marks its milestone 100th anniversary of finding passion and purpose while transforming lives through education.

Long brings more than a decade of fundraising and development expertise as well as government, nonprofit, and academia experience to the table. Before joining Albertus, she served as a Major Gift Officer at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington and as Director of Development at her alma mater, the University of New Haven.

“Cherie will be an incredible asset to the Advancement team as we enter Albertus’ historic Centennial Year and beyond,” said Interim Vice President for Advancement Kierran Broatch. “Her expertise in building relationships and securing leadership gifts will help the College achieve its philanthropic goals and better carry out its mission as we begin a second century of education excellence.”

A resident of Wethersfield, Conn., Long has a dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of New Haven as well as a Master of Public Administration from Pace University. Long is also an active volunteer and fundraising committee member for community-based organizations including the Urban League of Greater Hartford and Grace Academy in Hartford.
