Albertus Magnus College Class of 2026, before we proceed with our Commencement honorees and get ever closer to the moment when each of you will walk across this stage, I have a few final reflections to share in this most special moment for you and in this historic occasion for Albertus.
I begin with a single word—
Congratulations!
You did it.
You are the Centennial Class.
And that means something.
It means you hold a place in the history of this institution that no class before
you—and no class after you—will ever hold.
You are the bridge between one hundred years of impact… and the beginning of what
comes next.
You are not just graduating from Albertus.
You are helping to define its future.
That’s not ceremonial.
That’s real.
When speaking with our alumni groups, I often suggest that one of the most important responsibilities of being the Albertus president is to be its chief storyteller.
So let me tell you a simple truth about your story.
You came here with hopes.
With questions.
With ambitions.
With uncertainties.
And somewhere along the way—through long nights, real challenges, moments when things
didn’t go as planned—you made a decision.
You kept going.
That matters.
Because the world is full of people who start things.
But it is shaped by those who finish.
And today—you finish.
You’ve earned this.
To the families and friends who have joined us here, and those watching from afar—
This moment also belongs to you.
You’ve been part of this journey in ways that may never fully be seen or spoken.
You encouraged... or perhaps pushed… or possibly prodded.
You sacrificed.
You believed—sometimes when belief wasn’t easy.
At Albertus, we talk about community.
But let’s be clear—this is more than community.
This is family.
And today, we celebrate that. And we celebrate you. And as President, I thank you.
Class of 2026—
You are leaving this campus at a moment unlike any other.
One hundred years ago, the Dominican Sisters who founded this college were, in every
sense, disruptors of the status quo.
They didn’t wait for permission.
They didn’t accept limitations.
They saw what was possible, what was needed—and they built it.
That spirit—faith, courage, conviction—that’s your inheritance.
And now the question becomes—
What will you build?
Let me be direct.
The world you are stepping into is complicated.
It will test you.
It will challenge you.
At times, it will frustrate you.
There will be moments when things don’t go your way.
That’s not pessimism.
That’s reality.
But here’s the other truth—
You are prepared.
Because an Albertus education is not just about what you know.
It’s about who you are.
You have learned how to think.
How to adapt.
How to question.
How to lead.
How to persist.
And—this matters—you’ve learned how to care.
Because at this college, something different happens.
We don’t just educate students.
We love our students into soaring… to become their best selves.
That’s not a slogan.
That’s a commitment.
And now, that commitment lives in you.
So as you go forward, you have a choice to make.
Every single day.
Will you be passive…
or will you be a force?
Will you wait…
or will you lead?
Will you see obstacles…
or will you see possibilities?
At Albertus, we ask a different question than most places:
Not just “What is?”…
but “What’s possible?”
And I tell you—
The world needs more people who live in that second question.
Be a force for good.
Not occasionally.
Consistently.
Be someone who brings energy into a room—not takes it out.
Be someone who builds—not tears down.
Be someone who lifts others—especially when it’s not convenient.
Be someone who chooses hope when it would be easier to choose doubt.
That’s leadership.
That’s impact.
And don’t lose sight of this—
Your Albertus story does not end today.
It continues to grow and evolve.
As I have said at every commencement ceremony—and I’ll say again, because it matters—
Don’t see this moment as walking away.
See it as walking forward.
Forward into your life.
Forward into your purpose.
Forward into the responsibility that comes with having been given this opportunity.
Albertus is now your alma mater.
Your home.
Stay connected.
Stay engaged.
Because the students who come after you—they will look to you.
Just as you now join those who came before you.
You are part of a legacy that is bigger than you.
But legacy is not something you simply receive.
It's not an entitlement.
It’s something you build.
Through your actions.
Through your choices.
Through the way you show up in the world.
So I’ll ask you—
What will your legacy be?
Class of 2026—
You are ready.
You are needed.
And make no mistake—you are loved.
Today is your moment.
Be proud of it.
Celebrate it.
But don’t let it be the highlight.
Let it be the beginning.
Because the true measure of this day…
will not be the degree you receive—
but the difference you will make.
Congratulations, Centennial Class.
We are proud of you.
We believe in you.
And we cannot wait to see what you do next.
Go forward.
Make it matter.
And may God bless each and every one of you.
Thank you.
Marc M. Camille, Ed.D.
