Sr. Charles Marie Brantl, O.P. Remembered

Prayers are requested for Sr. Charles Marie Brantl, O.P., beloved teacher and leader at Albertus Magnus College, who died on August 21, 2014 in Columbus, Ohio.

Sr. Charles Marie graduated from Albertus in 1951 and received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Fordham University. She was professed as a Dominican Sister of St. Mary of the Springs (now the Dominican Sisters of Peace) in 1953.

Sr. Charles Marie began her ministry at Albertus as a Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics (1976 — 1990). She was appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs (1990 — 2001) and then became the Director of Assessment and Institutional Research (2001 — 2011).

In May of 2011 Sr. Charles Marie received an honorary degree from Albertus Magnus College recognizing her many years of teaching and innovative leadership at the College. Reflecting on her many years at Albertus, Sr. Charles Marie said her ministry was, "a work of dedication, a work of service to others and a blessed privilege."

In 2011 Sr. Charles Marie retired from Albertus to do community service at the Dominican Sisters of Peace motherhouse in Columbus, Ohio.

A Memorial Liturgy for Sr. Charles Marie Brantl, O.P. will take place on Saturday, November 1, the Feast of All Saints, at 10:00 a.m. in the Tagliatela Academic Center.

A reception will follow in Bree Common, Aquinas Hall.
