Albertus and Housatonic Sign Transfer Agreement
Albertus Magnus College and Housatonic Community College on September 8 signed a transfer agreement that will guarantee qualified Housatonic graduates admission into the Albertus accelerated Bachelor of Science in business management program, which is offered through the School of New Dimensions.
“We at Albertus Magnus College are extremely pleased to begin this new and exciting relationship with Housatonic Community College,” said Albertus President Dr. Julia M. McNamara. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our institutions to work together to make the dream of attaining a bachelor’s degree a reality for Housatonic students who are so focused on creating a better future for themselves and their families.”
The agreement takes effect in Spring 2011. It applies to graduates of Housatonic’s seven business administration programs who earned a minimum GPA of 2.0 or better and have two years of work experience. The transfer agreement, said Housatonic President Anita Gliniecki, “builds on a history of cooperation with Albertus that will enable more of our students to move seamlessly to the next level of their academic careers.” This is the third transfer agreement the two colleges have signed; others apply to traditional programs in general studies and human services.
Twenty-five years ago Albertus was a pioneer in designing accelerated programs and innovative delivery systems for working professionals who wanted to complete an undergraduate degree or pursue a master’s degree. Small classes, convenient locations and convenient schedules continue to attract adult students determined to achieve a degree.
