Overview

The coaching position involves all aspects of the operation of an NCAA DIII swim program. The aquatics director’s role involves oversight of the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and administration of the college’s aquatics facility.

The Swim Coach and Aquatics Director reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for all areas of coaching, recruiting, and administering of our Division III Swimming (and Diving) program, while also acting as the director of aquatic operations for the college. 

The Athletic Diversity Inclusion Designee is a position for all NCAA member institutions that have signed the Presidential Pledge. The ADID is a staff member designated by the chancellor/president or commissioner (or their proxy), who serves as the conduit for information related to national-, local- and campus-level issues of diversity and inclusion and supports diverse and inclusive practices related to athletics (gender equity and Title IX as it pertains to athletics are also included within this role.  The ADID is charged with facilitating the education of all Athletics employees and Student-Athletes on Title IX and sexual assault prevention.

Essential Functions
  1. This position calls for the planning and execution of instructions to student-athletes in the water and in dry-land training in preparation for collegiate swimming competitions. The coaching and guidance of student-athletes should follow the philosophy of the NCAA DIII and Albertus Magnus College. It also requires monitoring of student-athlete academic progress. 
  2. Student-athlete recruitment is required and includes building an active list of recruits along with consistent communication and nurturing of relationships and contacts with the goal to maintain a full and competitive roster of determined student-athletes 
  3.  Planning for practices and preparation for the competition are prime responsibilities of the head coach ensuring there is coordination with the Athletics Office in planning, schedule-making, and equipment acquisition for the team. 
  4. The role of the aquatics director includes pool scheduling hiring and supervision of lifeguards along with management of the school’s pool maintenance vendor.   
  5. The Aquatics Director organizes and seeks out groups to rent our aquatics facility as a provided source of income for the school.
  6. Certify athletics staff in CPR/First Aid/AED 
  7. Train and certify new lifeguards.
  8. Providing in-service education to currently employed lifeguards.
Qualifications
  • Current safety certifications (CPR, Lifeguard, First Aid, CPO) (Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor)
  • Valid driver’s license
Special Work Schedule Requirements
  • 12-month, full-time position.
  • Evening and weekend work are expected depending on scheduled athletic events, etc.
