Half-time faculty member and Art Show Coordinator, Master of Arts in Art Therapy and
Counseling (MAATC) program
| Overview |
Having been established in 1997, the MAATC program is the only AATA (American Art
Therapy Association) approved graduate art therapy program in the state of Connecticut.
In addition, the program is CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education
Programs) accredited. Successful completion of the program provides the necessary
educational requirements for a pathway to licensing as a professional counselor (LPC)
and a Clinical Licensed Art Therapist (CLAT) in the state of Connecticut, as well
as a nationally registered and board-certified art therapist.
The program, which is housed in the Department of Psychology, is noted for its strong
clinical and research focus; our graduates and faculty frequently receive AATA awards
for research excellence. The program is student centric and encourages diversity,
cultural awareness and an equitable learning environment, with a focus on faculty
mentorship and peer support.
