Overview The Dominican Mission and Ministry Graduate Assistant is a 10-month position each year over the course of earning a Master’s degree at Albertus Magnus College. The Graduate Assistant position is limited to applicants seeking a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership (MSMOL), or Master of Science in Accounting (MSA).  The Graduate Assistant will be in support of Albertus’ Office of Dominican Mission and Ministries and the Meister Eckhart center for catholic and Dominican Life. The Office of Dominican Mission and Ministry is made up of three, 1 person offices: the Mission Office, Dominican Ministries, and the Meister Eckhart Center for Catholic and Dominican Life. As the GA for Mission and Ministry, you will split your time between the three offices.

The Graduate Assistant will work part-time to assist with programming and promotion. The Graduate Assistant will also work to bring in other students, faculty, and staff to engage with the Dominicant heritage and Catholic nature of the institution.

Essential Functions
  • Help produce promotional materials, such as: flyers, brochures, social media content, etc.
  • Be present at certain decided upon programming events to assist with set up, take down, the event itself, and ministry of presence
  • Co-lead or lead certain programs or activities for the college: it is an opportunity to be creative and get some further skills in event planning
  • Assist with administrative tasks that arise 
  • Assist with the coordinating of Albert Week, Service Day, Candlelight Convocation, Founders’ Day, lectures, liturgical seasons and other special programs, liturgies and events
  • Assist with the coordination of service and volunteer experiences, and programming for Alternative Break Experiences (Habitat for Humanity) including:
      • Risk management including document tracking 
      • Coordination and communication with sites
      • Training and development regarding the mission of the program Program assessment
  • Supports and promotes service opportunities that arise 
  • Lead small groups and reflection discussions with students
Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable with using Instagram and Canva (for promotional materials)
  • Detail oriented and organized; able to prioritize and complete tasks
  • Adaptable to change; able to work independently and with a team
  • Highly relational, have good judgement and be willing to take initiative
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Acceptance to the Albertus Magnus College full-time
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
  • Experience working in education, counseling services, student affairs, or business is preferred (but not required)
  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Canva and Instagram
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality
  • Works independently and with a team, and be able to multitask the responsibilities of multiple offices
