The Financial Aid Counselor is primarily responsible for administering financial aid to enrolled students.

Essential Functions
  • Counsel students and families on all aspects of financial aid
  • Administer Federal, State, and Institutional Aid to enrolled students
  • Work closely with Admissions, Academic Advisors, Registrar’s Office, and the Business Office to help students navigate the enrollment and financial aid processes
  • Perform R2T4 Calculations, Verifications, and Professional Judgements
  • Assist with the maintenance of current policies and procedures
  • Assist borrowers with default aversion and resolution issues
  • Serve at various campus events, financial literacy presentations, and serve on other institutional committees as assigned
  • Engage in professional development and maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of financial aid regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • At least one or more years of experience working in a Financial Aid Office or relevant work experience within an Accredited Higher Education Institution
  • Technical proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of PowerFAIDS, SLATE, Navigate, or Datatel Colleague System preferred
  • Experience working with non-traditional college students
  • Knowledge of Title IV systems (i.e. CPS, NSLDS, etc.)
Special Work Schedule Requirements Evening and some weekend hours required.
