Overview

Perform various repairs involving HVAC equipment, plumbing and preventative maintenance to same equipment.  Knowledge of electrical needs and repairs as needed in general maintenance and repair to campus buildings.  Assist in other areas as needed.  Perform general maintenance, repairs and modifications to campus buildings and grounds.  Perform a variety of repairs to include, but not limited to:  minor electrical, plumbing and mechanical work.  Perform maintenance and upkeep of tools and equipment utilized to perform duties.  Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance to interior and exterior of campus buildings.  Repair, adjust or replace faucets, showers, commodes, urinals and flushing mechanisms.  Ensure appearance and safety of all campus areas.

Essential Functions
  • Work effectively to accomplish the building HVAC and plumbing requests and needs of the College Community.
  • Daily visual inspections on all building’s mechanical equipment.
  • Proactively address equipment maintenance to reduce breakdown and extend the life of mechanical systems.
  • Manage plumbing/HVAC repairs.
  • Work with outside contractors as needed.
  • Identify areas of concern in various buildings.
  • Actively involved in major College functions.
  • Other duties as assigned including snow removal.
Qualifications

Three to five years experience in HVAC, plumbing or related experience.  Ability to effectively interpret written and verbal instructions.  Good verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required.  Basic practical knowledge of several maintenance trades with special emphasis on building maintenance. 

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
  • Three to five years experience in HVAC, plumbing or related experience.

Special Work Schedule Requirements

Heavy lifting up to 50lbs and heavy carrying up to 50lbs.  Long periods of time spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping.  Ability to reach above head.  Ability to climb ladders.  Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a variety of tools.

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.  The hours are from 7:00am-3:30pm, Monday through Friday.  This position is on-call for after hours.
