Overview

The Director of Sports Performance and Athletic Training manages the Athletic Training Department in providing a high-level of medical service delivery, including assessment, care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses to all student athletes at this 15 sport NCAA DIII college. This individual consults with sports medicine specialists and doctors during injury situations to provide the best possible advice regarding the treatment of injuries. The position also manages insurance claims related to athletic injuries and treatment.

Essential Functions
  • The Head Athletic Trainer will oversee the sports medicine program and its staff including prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury treatments and rehabilitation.
  • Provide Athletic training services for selected College varsity sports: practices and home contests
  • Keep accurate records and documentation of all medical history forms, athletic injury forms, concussion forms and rehabilitation progress notes
  • Keep Department policies up-to-date along with the Emergency Action Plans
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the team physician and college’s medical personnel
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Qualifications

4-6 years of Athletic Training experience, preferably at the intercollegiate level. Masters Degree required. Certified Athletic Trainer under the BOC and CT State licensure or eligibility to obtain CT licensure.

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. NATA Certification is required
Special Work Schedule Requirements Evening and some weekend hours required.
