Overview

The Director of Athletics (AD) provides senior leadership and supervisory oversight for Albertus Magnus College's NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics program, which currently consists of 16 varsity teams, including women's basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, and diving, tennis, and volleyball; and men's baseball, basketball, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, and tennis. Plans are currently underway to launch women's ice hockey, with additional potential women's and men's offerings planned for the future. Building on existing department strengths and informed by the College's Albertus 2025 strategic plan and its Dominican mission values, the next AD will develop and articulate a compelling vision for the program's future, focused on the "student-athlete," holistic academic and athletic success model, identifying and championing through inspirational, transparent, and inclusive leadership new opportunities for deepened investment, greater inclusiveness and equity, and strategies to continue the Falcon's upward trajectory as a model Division III program. The AD will model and inspire collaborative teamwork within the Athletics Department and throughout the College community, leading more than 35 full-time professional staff (coaching and administrative) and more than 26 part-time seasonal staff members to support the nearly 300 student-athletes who annually compete for Albertus. The AD manages a $1.9M departmental budget in a fiscally responsible manner, ensures compliance with all NCAA, GNAC, federal, state, and College policies, and fosters a culture of sportsmanship, professionalism, equity, and respect among all student-athletes and athletic staff.

Like nearly every private NCAA Division III institution, Albertus Magnus College relies upon student revenues and fundraising to support operating budgets. As a senior leader within the College's Division of Enrollment Management and Marketing, the AD and team coaches will play a key role in meeting annual new student recruitment and returning student retention goals. In addition, the AD and team coaches will have the expectation and opportunity to engage in the College's fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives, helping to generate new and growing resources to invest in athletics facilities and operational needs.
