Overview

Working with the AVP, the Director is responsible for creating and cultivating relationships with the College’s various constituencies, with a particular focus on alumni and parents. The Director will motivate individuals to connect with the College and to donate their money, time, and expertise. The Director identifies and cultivates constituents to build a pipeline for engagement that supports Albertus and develops volunteer leadership. The Director manages all engagement events associated with Advancement, in cooperation with the Executive Director of College Events. In addition, the Director may provide assistance to the Office of the President as requested. Assignments may be highly confidential in nature.

Essential Functions

Program Management

  • Create and implement an annual strategic/operational plan for Alumni and Parent Engagement. Develop, monitor, and report on Engagement metrics by which to measure progress toward program goals
  • Create metrics for measuring engagement and goals associated with its growth. 
  • Develop sustainable programming that serves a diverse regional and national audience. 
  • Work closely with other departments on partnered events and new initiatives; identify Alumni to participate in programs and initiatives. 
  • Provide strategic guidance and support for the Alumni Advisory Board and for other alumni committees and volunteers. Encourage 100% giving participation from the Board. 
  • Working in conjunction with the AVP, launch a parent council that includes giving expectations 
  • Serve as primary advisor of the Student Alumni Association.
  • Conduct visits of alumni and parents to assess alumni interest, volunteer and donor potential.

Communications

  • Develop and implement a broad-based alumni communications plan, using print, web, and digital tactics to inform, interact, and strengthen the reputation of Albertus among alumni/parents. Monitor metrics and periodically evaluate communications tactics.
  • Manage and produce content for alumni and parent newsletters. Maintain the alumni sections of the College website; administer official Alumni social media channels.
  • In conjunction with Marketing and Communications, served as the Advancement lead for the production of the From the Magazine and other alumni publications. Provide information and copy content including feature stories, profiles, and class notes
  • Coordinate closely with the Marketing and Communications department to align messaging, deliver content, and complement strategies.  
  • With the AVP, implement segmentation and data analysis to inform a comprehensive programming and communications strategy. 

Events

  • Manage all Engagement events, such as affinity outreach, to include planning, collaboration, identification of target audiences, guest list, and the management and production of marketing pieces such as invitations, briefings, and follow up and confirmation materials. Responsible, in partnership with the Office of College Events, for logistics related to events including submitting and reviewing requests for proposals, managing vendors, and overseeing setup and budget management. 
  • With the Executive Director of College Events, partner with departments on campus wide events such as commencement and homecoming to manage the alumni/parent engagement goals of the events. 

Other

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date information for alumni of record.
  • In partnership with the Advancement team, coordinate reunion giving programs, class gifts, appropriate parent solicitations, and giving days; engage the Student Alumni Program (SAA) members in student philanthropy efforts.
  • As part of the Advancement team, the Director shall steward a portfolio of donors and prospects.
Qualifications At least 5 years of experience in alumni relations, special events, education/higher education, or another related field.  Some fundraising experience or equivalent is required.
Education Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Knowledge | Skills | Abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of the various social media and technology platforms used in an office setting.
Special Work Schedule Requirements Evening and weekend work required; job-related travel required.
