Overview The Coordinator of Dominican Ministries and Service with the Dominican Mission Officer will design, implement and oversee a plan in collaboration with other college groups that promotes the Dominican pillars of study, prayer/spirituality, community and service. This program will provide leadership, direction and opportunities in light of the developmental needs of students from the day and adult divisions.  This ia full-time 35 hour per week position during the Academic year from August 1 – June 30.

Essential Functions
  • Provides a presence and interaction with students to build a spirit of community

  • Coordinates a regular schedule of  local service opportunities

  • Interfaces with students who have service scholarships and students in HU101 for service opportunities

  • Provides Catholic and interfaith prayer services

  • Oversees the chapel.

  • Actively participates in the Advisory Committee for the Promotion of Dominican Mission and Ministries 

  • Develops a student coordinating committee for service and ministry opportunities

  • Plans a mini-retreat program

  • Provides opportunities for student preaching

  • Provides study opportunities related to Catholic Social Teaching, Scripture, Interfaith Dialog, Dominican tradition

  • Promotes and encourages student participation in the Dominican College Preaching in Action Conference, Dominican Volunteers USA, Habitat for Humanity, Jamaican Mission experiences

  • Promotes opportunities that engage student interests offered by the college and local community

  • Plans prayer opportunities related to life experiences, needs of the community

  • Collaborates with Student Services

  • Collaborates with Career Services on Service Day and Sophomore retreat

  • Coordinates a Peace Leadership Skills Program

  • Offers a Bible Study Program for interested students

  • Coordinates the annual All Campus Service Day

  • Engages in the work of the Justice Panel committee

Qualifications
  • Education: BA (MA preferred) in theology, pastoral ministry, divinity or relate fields/disciplines

  • Experience: Experience in young adult ministry  

  • Preferred Experience: Experience in a Catholic Academic and/or Pastoral Ministry setting

Special Work Schedule Requirements In order to meet student’s needs, this position will have a flexible schedule which requires some weekend and evening hours. Periodically this position will require some multi-day experiences such as the Dominican College Preaching in Action Conference and student outreach experiences.
