| Overview |
The Controller reports to the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA).
S/he directly manages all functions of the Business Office and oversees a staff of
7 individuals. The Controller is responsible for financial management, transaction
processing, and reporting, and compliance. This includes oversight of financial systems,
policies, procedures, controls, and records management to ensure effective and prudent
financial operations of the College. The Controller prepares management reports for
the VPFA and assists with interpretation of financial and investment matters and presentations
to internal and external audiences, including the College’s Administration and Board
of Trustees.

| Essential Functions |
- Business Office Management – Manage Business Office operations and staffing.
- Financial Systems – Oversee financial systems and ensure College financial transactions
and reporting are performed timely and accurately.
- Controls – Maintain updated documentation of financial policies, internal controls,
and chart of accounts.
- Payroll – Oversee payroll function for timely and accurate payroll processing and
consistent application of internal controls.
- Accounting – Perform and/or oversee accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable,
debt management, grant accounting, gift accounting, fixed asset tracking, tax reporting,
reconciliations, and monthly closing.
- Budget and Reporting – Manage annual and multi-year budget and forecasting process
and monthly reports, including budget variance reporting and identification of issues
of concern to management.
- Bursar –Ensure timely and accurate processing of student billing and collections.
Maintain billing systems as necessary to improve efficiency and customer service.
- Financial Statements – Prepare annual financial statements, taxes, and other regulatory
requirements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal,
state and local regulations.
- Audit – Coordinate annual financial and compliance audits with outside auditors. Prepare
necessary documents and schedules for financial statements; federal and state; and
retirement plan audits; and Federal Form 990.
- Work with Vice President for Finance and Administration on establishing financial
operating metrics and performance benchmarks.
- Support – Assist the Vice President for Finance and Administration as needed.

| Qualifications |
- Bachelor’s and MBA, MAcc or master’s degree in related field required; CPA designation
or CPA licensing within one year of employment strongly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years related experience with increasing functional and leadership responsibility;
higher education experience strongly preferred.

| Special Work Schedule Requirements |
This is a full time, exempt, benefit eligible position. Normal office hours are 8:30AM
- 4:30PM, flexible to the needs of the department.
