| Overview |
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Recreation reports directly to the
Associate Dean for Student Engagement and New Student Orientation. The Assistant Director
advises the Student Government Association (SGA) and oversees the Albertus Campus
Recreation program.
The Assistant Director is responsible for the creation, managing, and planning of
all Campus Recreation programs, the co-supervision of the Campus Center Managers and
the promotion of events and activities on the activities calendar each year.
This position will organize and support campus-wide programs such as New Student Orientation,
Welcome Weeks, Student Involvement Fair, Late Night Breakfast, Finals Fiesta, Homecoming,
Albertus Madness, SGA Day, and other major events sponsored by the Office of Student
Engagement. The Assistant Director provides oversight and training for clubs, organizations
each year.

| Essential Functions |
- Serve as adviser to the Student Government Association (SGA)
- Manage Campus Recreation, Intramurals & Fitness Programs
- Train student organizations in the understanding of bylaws development and execution
of programs and activities throughout the year as well as oversee the functions and
operations of registered clubs
- Manage the allocation of the funds associated with student organizations; work closely
with the SGA Treasurer to allocate, approve, distribute, and manage funding requests
- Supervise student employees working in the Division for Student Affairs and Hubert
Campus Center Managers
- Serve as the co-advisor to the Albertus Commuter Council with the Coordinator for
Student Engagement
- Collaborate on commuter engagement efforts with the Campus Activities Board (CAB)
Develop and maintain campus wide activities calendar and promote it on campus and
through social media; work closely with the Coordinator of Student Engagement on coordinating
social media posts and distributing the calendar of events
- Commuter Coordinator and Coordinator for Student Engagement
- Assist with the selection and training of Orientation Leaders and Peer Mentors
- Coordinate various aspects of the New Student Orientation Program in conjunction with
the Associate Dean of Student Engagement and New Student Orientation
- Assist with the operation of the Hubert Campus Center including event set ups and
event management
- Assist in the execution of campus wide programs and activities
- Collaborate with the Department of Athletics in the execution of engagement activities
- Maintain and archive annual club member records
- Oversee and update Office of Student Engagement external and internal web pages
- Support in the creation of new programs and traditions
- Assist with office social media management and content creation
- Work with Information Technologies to update student interest annually in Navigate/Colleague
- Serve in a staffing rotation for evening and weekend activities
- Be available to work days, evenings and/or weekends as needed
- Represent the Office of Student Engagement at institution events both on and off campus
- Other duties as assigned

| Qualifications |
- Excellent organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds,
and abilities
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for programs and events

| Education |
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
|
| Knowledge | Skills | Abilities |
- Prior experience in student engagement; working with student groups and student government
- Experience with New Student Orientation programs
- Technical proficiency using a computer and software applications such as Microsoft
Office Suite; Canva, Navigate, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
- 2 years of related professional experience in an educational setting, preferably in
higher education working with student organizations, programming and event planning.
- Campus Recreation experience preferred.

| Special Work Schedule Requirements |
Traditional office hours are M-F 8:30am - 4:30pm, but flexibility is required as frequent
evening and weekend availability is necessary.
The position requires the ability to use a computer and other standard office equipment
requiring repetitive arm/hand movements is essential. Excellent oral and written communication
skills are essential, including the ability to speak in group settings.
