Albertus Magnus College’s 6th Annual Golf Classic a Major Success
Event Benefits Life-changing Student Scholarships
New Haven, Conn., June 25, 2024 – Albertus Magnus College welcomed a record 118 golfers to New Haven Country Club
on June 24, 2024 for its annual Golf Classic, an event that raises essential scholarship
funds to transform and empower lives through education.
Thanks to the enormous generosity of Albertus alumni, benefactors, and businesses
throughout the state, this year’s event garnered nearly $150,000 in scholarship support.
Since its inception, the Golf Classic has now raised a total of $500,000 to benefit
deserving Albertus students. Scholarship support is an institutional priority of Albertus,
the most diverse Catholic College in New England, since more than 90-percent of our
undergraduate students receive some form of financial assistance. Scholarships help
us attract outstanding students, make a college degree more affordable, and allow
our students to concentrate more fully on their educational experience.
“For many, the promise of an Albertus education is only possible through the generosity
of others,” said Vice President for Advancement Mary Young ’91. “By supporting this
tournament, stakeholders positively impact the lives of our students and invest in
the leaders of tomorrow. For that, we are most grateful.”
These funds are also essential to continue to make Albertus students and graduates
workforce ready. For the eighth year in a row, Albertus graduates outpace the national
average when it comes to finding jobs or continuing their education within six months
after earning their degrees. The Class of 2023 alumni achieved a 98-percent success
rate versus the most recent 84-percent national comparison rate, according to the
National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) First Destination Survey results.
This year, Knights of Columbus and Noble Wealth Advisors of Janney Montgomery Scott
were the event’s two premier sponsors.
