Albertus Magnus College Announces Date for Second Annual Golf Classic
Community and Businesses Encouraged to Participate in Event to Benefit Students Facing Financial Hardship
At a time when COVID-19 has wreaked both health and economic havoc, affording a high-quality education that helps students achieve academic excellence, experiential learning, and real-world experience just got a little harder. Albertus Magnus College is all about getting to “Yes,” so, on Monday, July 20, Albertus will once again host the Albertus Magnus College Golf Classic (formerly The Silver Horn Scholarship Golf Classic). The name may be different but the goal is the same – to continue to transform and empower lives through this fundraiser to support the Silver Horn Scholarship Fund. In response to the world pandemic, there are a few new changes to help ensure health and safety including scheduled tee times to promote social distancing.
The Silver Horn Scholarship Fund was established in 2018 with the inauguration of Albertus President, Dr. Marc M. Camille. Last year, more than $100,000 was raised, building on the initial $260,000 endowment. Scholarships provide essential financial support to students who face financial hardship in their junior or senior years and help them stay on track to graduate with their degree in four years.
“It is one thing to begin your college career, but the true value is only realized through completing your journey and earning your degree completion. That’s what we are about here at Albertus Magnus College. The Silver Horn Scholarship Fund strengthens our commitment to that success and the support of the community is most appreciated as these are our future leaders and our future workforce,” said Vice President of Advancement Mary Young ’91.
Area businesses and organizations are already stepping-up to support this great cause with Yale-New Haven Health as the Title Sponsor.

About Albertus Magnus College
Founded in 1925, Albertus is a coeducational Catholic College in the Dominican tradition. Albertus' values- and liberal arts-based education is recognized by external rankings such as US News & World Report, Money, and The New York Times, and has been named a Top 10 Military Friendly School. For ten consecutive years, at least 95% of Albertus graduates have attained employment or gone on to graduate studies within six months of completing their degrees. The College has an enrollment of approximately 1,300 students across its traditional undergraduate, accelerated adult undergraduate, and graduate program levels. Proud to enroll a student body where nearly half of its undergraduate students receive Federal Pell Grants and are first-generation college goers, Albertus is known for its innovative curricular offerings, recently launching new Bachelor's degree programs in Nursing, including BSN and Connecticut's first LPN-to-BSN; General Health Sciences; Interdisciplinary Studies; and Public Health.
Among its graduate offerings is the State of Connecticut's only Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling program, and it is just one of three schools to offer a Master of Science in Human Services. In 2025-26, Albertus is celebrating its historic 100th Anniversary and completing implementation of the Albertus 2025: Lighting the Way to a Second Century strategic plan, with a bold vision to "be a destination liberal arts-based college, distinguished in its interdisciplinary and experiential approach to education, rooted in Dominican values, that prepares students for lifelong civic engagement and success."
