Albertus Magnus College announced that it has elected four new members to its board of trustees. The new class of board members, the first to join the College since 2014, includes Sr. Anne Lythgoe, O.P., John R. Nester, M.B.A., Barbara L. Pearce, J.D., and Lawrence P. Ward, Ed.D. They began their terms on October 1, 2018.
"We are so pleased to welcome these accomplished trustees to the Albertus community," said Jeanne M. Dennison, '78, chairperson of the College's board of trustees. "They bring unique skills garnered across roles in business, higher education, and non profit leadership. Their common passion is for the mission of Albertus Magnus College and providing access to higher education, a critical issue across our country. Our new trustees complement the Board's breadth of talent and experience, and we look forward to partnering with them in the advancement of the College."

Sister Anne Lythgoe, O.P.
Sister Anne Lythgoe is a member of the Dominican Sisters of Peace Leadership Team, having served for 11 years in congregational leadership in her founding congregation. She currently serves as President of the Dominican Sisters Conference, the networking organization of elected leaders of the Dominican congregation in the United States.
Sr. Anne holds an M.A. in Public Communications from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, a B.A. in Religious Studies from Siena College, Loudonville, NY, a certificate in Law and Religious Life from Misericordia University, Dallas, PA, and a certificate in process facilitation. Sr. Anne was the Communications Coordinator for the Dominican Leadership Conference (2002-2009), and for eight years was the founding editor of Dominican Life USA, an online news portal for Dominicans in the United States. She served in vocation ministry and retreat ministry in Pennsylvania and Virginia.

John R. Nester
John has more than 20 years of executive, financial, and operational expertise. Most recently, John joined Old Locke Partners, LLC, where he works with education technology businesses as an advisor, board member, and investor, while also serving as an executive advisor for New Harbor Capital. John’s previous work experience includes serving as CEO of Royall & Company (now EAB), the nation’s industry leader in strategic, data-driven direct marketing and advisory services to traditional colleges and universities. He started his career with EY and previously served in C-level roles at Phillips International and other entrepreneurial, high-growth companies. Mr. Nester holds a B.S. degree from The University of Richmond and his M.B.A. degree from George Washington University.

Barbara L. Pearce, J.D.
Barbara is the president and CEO of Pearce Real Estate. She is a graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. She practiced law before returning to New Haven to work in the business her father started. Barbara has been involved as a community leader in Connecticut and has chaired many boards, including The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, Long Wharf Theatre, the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, the United Way of Greater New Haven and the Hospital of Saint Raphael. She is currently co-chair of the Board of Saint Martin de Porres Academy in New Haven. She founded Women Organizing Women Political Action Committee (WOW), of which she is the current president. Barbara holds an honorary degree from Albertus Magnus College.

Lawrence P. Ward, Ed.D.
Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Ward currently serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Babson College. In this role, he provides strategic direction and executive leadership for a comprehensive educational experience that supports students’ academic, social, professional, cultural development, and personal well-being. Prior to joining Babson, Larry served as Associate Dean for Academic Programs at American University’s Kogod School of Business in Washington, DC, managing director at an organizational development consulting firm, and an account executive for Aetna, Inc.
Larry earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut, an M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Michigan, and his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Katerie, live in Needham, Massachusetts with their two children, Aidan and Emerson.
