Prayers

Albertus Magnus College incorporates thoughtful and reflective prayers that honor its Dominican heritage, celebrate its history, and inspire its community to work toward a brighter future. These prayers hold special significance during the College's Centennial year, as they provide a spiritual framework for reflecting on the past century of educational excellence and envisioning the journey ahead.

God of Foremothers,
A hundred years ago, Mother Stephanie and her sisters founded Albertus Magnus College to extend educational opportunity to women. In doing so, she followed in the footsteps of the Dominican saints--St. Dominic, St. Albert the Great, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Thomas Aquinas, Meister Eckart, and so many others-- to pread the gospel through the nourishment of mind and hearts. We celebrate the generations of students empowered by the College since then.

God of Living Wisdom,
From its beginnings, the College has always navigated winds of change, which continue to swirl around us today. Send us the confidence to deepen our mission while keeping our minds open to new approaches and possibilities. May today's students grow into thoughtful and creative leaders in their communities and our world, and may we take joy in students' contributions and accomplishments.

God of the Future,
Only you know the blessings and challenges to come in Albertus's next hundred years. Walk beside students who come to the College to pursue their dreams. Inspire every faculty and staff member who supports their journeys. Through time and change, keep our eyes fixed on your Truth and the common good as we seek to build the more just and peaceful world that you intend for us.

We ask these things in your most Holy Name.

Amen.
