About our collection

To help celebrate its historic 100th Anniversary Year, Albertus Magnus College is proud to introduce The Centennial Silks Collection, a vibrant and unique tribute to the College's first century. Inspired by the stained glass windows in the College's Saint Catherine of Siena Chapel, which were designed by long-time Albertus professor of fine arts, Sr. Thoma Swanson, O.P. The Centennial Silks Collection reflects Sr. Thoma's ministry of art and showcase the spirit of Albertus' Catholic heritage and academic traditions. Woven into the designs are meaningful symbols and icons from the Dominican tradition and the Dominican Sisters of Peace, such as the fleur-de-lis, a traditional French symbol dating to the founding of the Order of Preachers, with its bands represented in the four colors of the Dominican Pillars: Study, Prayer, Community, and Service. Also featured is the jonquil ("daffodil"), a flower rich in symbolism for the Sisters of Peace, representing hope and resilience.

The collection includes silk scarves, a pocket square, classic tie, and bowtie, each thoughtfully designed by Albertus alumna, Erin Molkenthin '24, a Designer in the College's Marketing department.

Proceeds from purchases of The Centennial Silks Collection support the College’s Silver Horn Scholarship Fund, established in 2018 with the inauguration of the College’s 14th president, Dr. Marc M. Camille. Named for the “silver horn of plenty” from the College’s shield and representing the knowledge and experiences gained by Albertus students, the Silver Horn Scholarship Fund helps students stay on track to earn their degrees by bridging financial gaps in times of unexpected hardship. A Centennial Silks purchase can make a significant difference in a student’s education dreams.
