Press Release
New Haven, Conn. — October 12, 2026
The Albertus Magnus College community mourns the loss of longtime Board of Trustee member, dedicated civic leader, and 2022 Honorary Doctorate recipient, Raymond J. Peach.
Mr. Peach faithfully served the Albertus Magnus College community for three decades as a Trustee, leaving an indelible mark on the institution through his leadership and commitment to its Catholic and Dominican mission. Among his many contributions, he notably served as Chairman of the Finance Committee, guiding the College’s fiscal health, growth, and long-term strategic initiatives. In recognition of his extraordinary service, leadership, and devotion to higher education, Albertus Magnus College awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (D.H.L.) degree in 2022.

Beyond his service to Albertus, Mr. Peach built a distinguished career in the banking industry. He began his career at Union and New Haven Trust Company and steadily rose through the industry ranks, ultimately retiring from Hudson United as Regional President. Following his retirement, he continued to lend his expertise as a valued consultant to both Hudson United and TD Bank.
A dedicated champion of the regional community, Mr. Peach actively served on numerous local civic and church boards, donating his time and expertise to strengthen the greater New Haven area. His lifetime of faith-filled service and leadership earned him widespread recognition, including one of the highest honors bestowed upon a layperson by the Catholic Church: being appointed a Knight of Saint Gregory by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II.
The entire Albertus Magnus College community joins together in celebrating the life and memory of Raymond J. Peach, keeping his family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
