Emergency Management

Fire Safety on Campus

When you hear an alarm... GET OUT of the building!

Fire Alarms

All buildings on campus contain fire alarm systems which are monitored by an alarm company. The fire alarm systems are inspected annually and maintained throughout the year by the College. When an alarm is triggered, the local Fire Department is called first and then Public Safety.  It is a good idea to notify Public Safety as well.   Both respond to the alarm.

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are located throughout the campus in every building. They are inspected annually and are maintained by the College to ensure they are fully charged and operational.

Smoke Detectors

Buildings on campus contain hard wired smoke detectors connected to the fire alarm system. Every room in the Residence Halls is equipped with a smoke detector. They are inspected annually and maintained throughout the year by the College.

Emergency Exit Signs and Lighting

Buildings on campus are equipped with illuminated exit signs and emergency lighting fixtures which will light the pathway in a building in the event of a power outage or fire. They are inspected annually and maintained throughout the year by the College.

Sprinkler Systems

All Residence Hall and many academic/administration buildings are equipped with a fire safety sprinkler system. They are inspected annually and are maintained by the College.

Evacuation Plans

All Residence Hall rooms are equipped with an evacuation plans indicating emergency escape routes.
