Fire Safety on Campus

When you hear an alarm... EVACUATE the building!

Fire Alarms

All buildings on campus contain fire alarm systems which are monitored by an alarm company. The fire alarm systems are inspected annually and maintained throughout the year by the College. When an alarm is activated, the local Fire Department and Public Safety are notified.  In the event an alarm activates in your building, you may notify Public Safety to ensure they are responding. 

Fire Extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are located throughout the campus. They are inspected annually and are maintained by the College to ensure they are fully charged and operational.

Smoke Detectors

Buildings on campus contain hard wired smoke or heat detectors connected to the fire alarm system. Every room in the Residence Halls is equipped with a smoke detector. They are inspected annually and maintained throughout the year by the College.

Emergency Exit Signs and Lighting

Buildings on campus are equipped with illuminated exit signs and emergency lighting fixtures which will light the pathway in a building in the event of a power outage or fire. They are inspected annually and maintained throughout the year by the College.

Sprinkler Systems

All Residence Halls and many academic/administration buildings are equipped with a fire safety sprinkler system. They are inspected annually and are maintained by the College.

Evacuation Plans

All Residence Hall rooms are equipped with an evacuation plans indicating emergency escape routes. Please familiarize yourself with a primary and secondary evacuation route.
