How to Apply for Admission

At Albertus, we understand that transfer students may be facing different obstacles than first-time freshmen. We will work with you to develop a plan that serves your needs, taking into consideration the fact that you have been to an institution in the past. Your past experiences are significant because they led you here.

In order to transfer to Albertus Magnus College, you will need to submit each of the following documents to the Admission Office:

  1. A completed application. Click here to apply online using the Albertus Application or click here to use the Common Application.
  2. An official transcript from each of the colleges or universities that you have attended since graduating from high school or receiving your G.E.D.
  3. Your personal essay on a topic of your choice.
  4. At least one letter of recommendation from a professor or advisor who is familiar with your academic ability and potential.
  5. A non-refundable application fee of $35 dollars.
  6. For those applicants that have been instructed to do so by an admissions counselor, a Current Semester Progress Report must be submitted. Please do NOT submit this unless you have been specifically asked to do so by an admissions counselor.

    Students may receive transfer credits for courses similar to those offered at Albertus Magnus College provided that:

    • The courses are from a regionally accredited institution.
    • The courses were completed with a minimum grade of 2.0 (C) or its equivalent.
    • The courses were completed with a Pass grade (P) that can be documented as being equivalent to a 2.0 or better.

    Undergraduate applicants must have official transcripts for all previously attended colleges or universities sent to the Office of Admission (Day Program) and the Division of Professional and Graduate Studies (Evening Program) as well as high school credentials*.

    • If a student has earned an associate’s degree that is acceptable for full credit towards a bachelor’s degree the student needs to submit an official transcript indicating degree completion and the date of graduation as well as official transcripts from any other attended colleges or universities.
    • If a student has earned an associate’s degree, but it is not acceptable for full credit towards a bachelor’s degree the student needs to submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities and minimally a copy of their high school diploma though the high school transcript is preferred.
    • Any student transferring to Albertus Magnus College who has not earned an associate’s degree regardless of the amount of incoming transfer credits is required to submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities and their official high school transcript.
    • Students enrolled in the Day Program who successfully completed three years of the same foreign language at the high school level can earn a waiver. An official high school transcript is required.

    Students can be provisionally accepted to the college if all official college and university transcripts are received pending receipt of the necessary high school diploma or official high school transcript. Students accepted provisionally pending high school credentials can begin the process of applying for Financial Aid, however, they cannot register for classes until all required academic documentation is received. Please review the Modular Financial Aid Readiness Report – Registrar’s Office column to determine the student’s eligibility to register for classes.

    After students are matriculated the Registrar’s Office will evaluate their transcripts to determine which courses may transfer and whether transferrable courses may be applied toward required or elective courses in the student’s program of study. Students should meet with their academic advisor to review the transfer evaluation.

    A maximum of 39 credits is transferrable toward an associate’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. A maximum of 64 credits from a regionally accredited two-year or community college and a maximum of 90 credits from a regionally accredited four-year college or university is transferable toward a bachelor’s degree.

  8. *Albertus Magnus College will transfer credits received from fully accredited colleges and universities where the student received grades of C or better.

    All transfer students MUST submit their official high school transcripts or equivalents prior to enrolling at Albertus Magnus College, regardless of incoming transfer credits.


Here are some suggested additional steps to take in order to transfer:

  1. Submit any supplemental material you wish to include in support of your application, such as a portfolio or a résumé.
  2. Schedule a visit to campus or take a virtual tour.
  3. Find an Admission Counselor and schedule a meeting.

Criminal Justice Camp

You're invited to our eighth annual Criminal Justice Camp for rising high school juniors and seniors. This one-day, free camp will feature sessions in crime scene evaluation, K-9, fingerprinting, and more!

Albertus Magnus College is hosting the Criminal Justice Camp on Wednesday June 28, 2017 from 9:00am - 3:30pm
All Criminal Justice Camp attendees must sign a waiver to participate. If you have not yet signed this waiver, bring a parent or legal guardian with you to the registration area in order to complete all necessary paperwork. If you do not, you will not be allowed to attend Criminal Justice Camp. Registration has now closed for Criminal Justice Camp. Visit on your own or with your family to experience the kind of personal attention you’ll get every day during your full-time undergraduate education at Albertus Magnus College. You’ll tour campus, talk with professors and may be able to sit in on classes.

Our Saturday Sessions have ended, and will begin again in September 2017. Please call the Office of Admission Monday through Friday to set up your personalized campus tour during the week.

Financial Aid

Albertus Magnus College helps admitted students find the resources they need to finance their educations. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
