Growing up I never wanted to become a teacher. I come from a family of educators. Both of my parents were involved in education and I saw early on the amount of constant preparation required to be a good educator. However, I kept finding myself in the role of a teacher throughout my college years and later into my career as a director of marketing. In the late 1980's I was asked to do some adjunct teaching at Albertus in marketing. What I discovered was that I liked to teach and I made Albertus and teaching my career.

Teaching business classes has allowed me to share my business and foreign travel experiences and thus provide an element of real world to the classroom. I believe this enhances the student’s ability for understanding, appreciation and critically assessing different and unique situations.

One of the greatest challenges of teaching is to provide stimulating, interesting, and challenging opportunities for students. An educator needs to understand the students; to work with them to develop a variety of skills and prepare them for the situations they’ll encounter throughout their academic, career, and community lives. The real joy and satisfaction of teaching comes after working with students for four years and then reflecting on how much they have achieved. When they leave Albertus, a foundation has been created and they are truly prepared to be responsible, lifelong learners.

I serve on the Board of Directors of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) - an accrediting body for business programs.
