Inauguration FAQs

What is the date, time and location of the inaugural ceremony?
The Inauguration of Marc M. Camille, Ed.D., the 14th President of Albertus Magnus College, will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 700 Prospect Street, New Haven, Connecticut.

What is the purpose of having an inauguration?
Colleges and universities hold inaugurations to accomplish several goals. The occasion encourages public identification and establishment of the new president in his position. It also gives the institution an opportunity to reaffirm historic commitments, to rally the academic community around the president, and to heighten institutional visibility.

How long is the Inauguration ceremony?
The ceremony is expected to last approximately 1 1/2 hours and will be immediately followed by a dessert reception on Rosary Hall Lawn.

Who is invited to the Inauguration?
All members of the College Community – trustees, alumnae/i, faculty, staff, and students – plus government leaders, official delegates from other colleges and institutions, religious leaders and special guests of the President and Board of Trustees.

May 2: Academic & Art Symposia
Faculty and Student academic symposia and art exhibitions; presentation of the “Albertus Soars” mural.

May 3:
Mass of the Holy Spirit at St. Joseph Church at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, 129 Edwards Street, New Haven.
Reception for the Community at 6:30 p.m. on the Tent at McAuliffe Hall.

Are there any costs to attend any of the day’s events?
No, there are no costs associated with attending any of the Inauguration events.
The Inauguration Scholarship Gala is a ticketed event that requires a tax-deductible contribution to the Inauguration Scholarship Fund.

Are paper tickets required for the Inauguration ceremony?
No, tickets are not required for the Inauguration ceremony.

Are paper tickets required for any other Inauguration events?
No. Seating will be made available on a first come, first served basis, for those not in the platform party or in the procession.

Is there a limit to the number of guests I can bring to the Inauguration?
No, there is no limit to the number of guests you can bring to the Inauguration Mass, Ceremony, or community receptions.

Why do I need to register?
The registration process will give organizers a sense of numbers and help with planning.

Are children welcome?
Children are welcome to attend the Inauguration festivities.

Where should I park?
There are several parking lots available on campus, all pictured on the campus map. Click Directions & Accommodations.

What accessibility arrangements have been made?
Transportation will be available to guests with specific accessibility needs. Directions & Accommodations

What is the recommended dress for the day?
Those in the platform party, including Albertus faculty, should wear their institutional regalia. Delegates representing other institutions should wear their institutional regalia. All others should wear business attire.

I am traveling from out of town. Is there a list of hotels in the immediate area? And, where do I find directions to the Inauguration.

Where do Delegates go?
All Delegate information can be located at Information for Delegates.

I’m marching in the procession. Where will we assemble to don our regalia?
We ask that you provide your own academic regalia. All delegates in the academic procession are expected to wear academic attire. If you do not have a cap and gown, please, contact the school or organization you are representing so that they may provide you with the necessary academic regalia. A secure room will be available for robing and for storing your personal belongings during the ceremony. Albertus Magnus College staff members will be available to assist you.

Is there special guest seating at Inauguration?
Seating will be made available on a first come, first served basis, for those not in the platform party or in the procession.

Is there seating for the disabled at the Inauguration?
Yes, seating for physically challenged guests, including an area that is wheelchair accessible, will be made available during the Inauguration.

Is the Dessert Reception open to all attendees?
Yes, immediately following the inauguration the dessert reception will be held on Rosary Hall Lawn.

If I can't attend, can I watch it live? If so, how?
The event will be live streamed, details will be available on the homepage closer to the event.

Is there a phone number I can call for assistance on Inauguration Day?
A number of volunteers and security will be circulating across the campus throughout the day to provide assistance to our visitors. In case of severe weather or torrential rain, please check the Albertus website for instructions.
