Course: Major Latin American Writers (FL-341S-1) 

A study of the major works of Latin American literature from modernismo, through the "Boom" and the contemporary period. Students learn of the rise of independent forms of cultural expression from the diverse genres of poetry, prose, and theater. Writers studied include Rub?n Dar?o, Jos? Mart?, Jorge Luis Borges, Alfonsina Storni, Juan Rulfo, Gabriel Garc?a M?rquez, Julio Cort?zar, Carlos Fuentes, and Antonio Sk?rmeta. Prerequisite: FL 299S or permission of the instructor. Generally offered on the basis of student needs and interest. 3 credits
