“Surface/Subsurface,” an exhibit of photomontages by Jonathon Wells, opens Wednesday, September 26, at the MacDonough Gallery in the Hubert Campus Center, and runs through Thursday, November 15.
Trained as a geologist and photographer, Wells combines his skills to create large-scale digitally-altered photomontage images that represent landscapes and the earth formations that lie below. He reveals the underlying geology as he looks at the foundation of cities, conditions below hazardous waste sites, and underground sources of drinking water. The images are based on Wells’s interpretation of geologic and environmental data.
A closing reception will take place on November 15 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the gallery.
Hours: M 4-8, T/W 3-8, Th 12-3 & 6-8, F 3-8, and by appt.
