Dr. Imholt has been a member of the Albertus faculty since 1971. During all of this time, his central concern has been the individual student enrolled in his classes, seated in his office, or encountered on campus or off. His teaching is driven by the injunction that is central to the Dominican charism and the mission of Albertus � to give to others the fruits of one�s contemplation. He finds teaching the perpetually young one way to offset the ravages of age.

He has taught a wide range of courses in both History and Political Science. While his primary interest is American history, the specific subject matter of any course is merely the means for students to develop their capacity to reflect, to analyze, to synthesize, and to communicate effectively. What he values most in students is curiosity and constant questioning. Students should never take anything for granted. They should always dig below the surface and be willing to look at the old and familiar in new ways and arrive at fresh insights. He firmly believes that an idea isn�t any good until it is played with. As academic disciplines, both History and Political Science are sophisticated kinds of intellectual play and the only way to become a master of the games is to continue playing them. Playing them is a form of mental exercise that stretches the mind and developing one�s mind is what education is all about.
