Lane closures and traffic shifts affect major roadways in New Haven beginning Friday, May 17th and continuing throughout Commencement Weekend.
On the weekend of May 17, the State Department of Transportation is closing lanes on I-95 North. Throughout the weekend they will maintain only one lane to North I-95 and one lane to North I-91. These lane closures will significantly impact traffic on major highways, exit and entrance ramps, and secondary roadways in the New Haven area.
Please allow for extra travel time over the weekend and especially on Sunday, May 19th, as graduates, their families and friends come together to celebrate Albertus Magnus College’s 90th Commencement Exercises.
Details regarding particular lane, exit, and entrance ramp closures, as well as alternate routes, are available on the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program website in the Special Announcements: Major Traffic Impact on I-95 NB and Exit 48 Weekend of May 17th section.
Alternate Route - You may consider taking the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15) instead of I-95.
Follow the Merritt Parkway North (Route 15) to Exit 61 (Whitney Avenue). Turn left and follow Whitney Avenue about 4 miles to Ogden Street. Turn right onto Ogden and proceed to Prospect Street. Turn right onto Prospect Street and take the first left onto Goodrich Street. After about 100 yards, turn left again at the main entrance to the campus. Parking availability is on a first come first serve basis. Albertus has many parking lots on the campus, along with parking on some of the surrounding streets.
Continued coverage of the project is available at the Department of Transportation's I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing Corridor Improvement Program website.
