Albertus Magnus College has announced the hiring of Bob Migliorini as the college’s new head coach of the men’s and women’s tennis teams. Allisan Adams will join Migliorini on the women’s tennis staff as an assistant coach.
Migliorini, who serves as the North Haven girls’ varsity tennis coach in North Haven, Conn., is a professional registry certified tennis instructor and works as an instructor for the North Haven Recreation Department. He is also the Tennis Chairperson for the High Lane Club, located in North Haven.
“Bob Migliorini came to us under some fairly adverse circumstances by taking the position after the season had started, but I couldn't be happier with our selection,” said Director of Athletics Michael Spinner. “Bob came to us as one of the best high school coaches in the state and from day one he has proven to be the perfect fit for our program.
“His enthusiasm for the sport and for our student-athletes is electric and he has a tremendous vision for the future of Albertus Magnus tennis. Most importantly, he has demonstrated that he truly wants to be at Albertus, and wants to build our programs. It's a great new day for Albertus Tennis, and I am thrilled for our student-athletes to have a terrific coach like Bob Migliorini on our staff."
Migliorini currently works as an Intellectual Property Attorney for ExxonMobil Corporation and is an adjunct Professor of Law at Pace University in White Plains, N.Y.
Prior to law school, Migliorini graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University then went on to Rochester Instititute of Technology, where he received his MBA and Master’s Degree in Engineering in 1991. He later earned his Masters of Law in Intellectual Property in 2005 from the Franklin Pierce Law Center and his Juris Doctor degree from the Quinnipiac School of Law in 2004.
As a member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Migliorini finished the 2010 year ranked No. 3 in New England for the Men’s Singles 45 Open Division, while competing for the Rocky Hill Men’s 4.5 level USTA tennis team.
As the head coach at North Haven High School, Migliorini was named the 2010 New Haven Register Tennis Coach of the Year as he led the Indians to a Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) lower tier league championship title. During that year he also guided his team to the quarterfinals of the Class L state tournament, which he did again in 2011.
Under his leadership, players from North Haven High School have been named to the Connecticut All-State Tennis Team and the New Haven Register All-Area Team as well as the SCC All-League Team.
Adams, a colleague of Migliorini’s, is a long-time tennis player and coach as well as a local tennis enthusiast. She begins her first year with the Falcons this fall, serving as an Assistant Coach for the Albertus women’s tennis program.
