Albertus Magnus Men's Soccer Announces 2012 Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (July 23, 2011) The Albertus Magnus women's soccer team announced its 2012 schedule on Monday as the Falcons will play 18regular-season contests with 10 to be played at Celentano Field in New Haven.

Nick Wajnowski '05, in his sixth season as the Falcons' head coach, will lead the Falcons in 2012 after the program's most successful season in program history. In 2011, the Falcons won a program-record 12 games as they played host to their first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament contest as well. Two Falcons earned GNAC All-Conference Team honors, while Wajnowski was named the 2011 GNAC Coach of the Year for the first time during his tenure.

The Falcons are slated to play 12GNAC opponents in 2012 and will open the year with five-straight home contests, including four non-league match-ups. Albertus will open the 2012 campaign by hosting Coast Guard in non-conference action on Friday, Aug. 31 in a 4:00 p.m. contest.

GNAC play opens for the Falcons on Sept. 12 as Albertus hosts Rivier College beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Falcons' first road game will take place at Emerson on Sept. 15 before they head to Mitchell on Sept. 17 for a non-league contest.

After four-straight road games, the Falcons will return home to host Simmons College on Sept. 25 at 4:00 p.m. Last season, the Falcons defeated the Sharks 2-0 in the first round of the GNAC Tournament for the program's first-ever postseason victory. Suffolk, the team that defeated the Falcons 1-0 in the second round of the tournament in 2011,will come to New Haven on Oct. 8 to face the Falcons in conference play.

Following that contest, Albertus will head to Newton, Massachusetts to take on the 2011 GNAC Champion Lasell College on Saturday, Oct. 13. The Falcons will then host Emmanuel College on Oct. 20 during the College's Fall Fest weekend as that contest is scheduled for1:00 p.m. On Oct. 25, the Falcons will hold their final home game of the regular season as they host Trinity College (Conn.) in non-league action at3:30 p.m.
