NEW HAVEN, Conn. (February 13, 2012) – For the second-straight week, the Albertus Magnus men's basketball team has been ranked in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll as announced Monday night. The Falcons have been tagged as the No. 20 team in the nation after breaking into the top-25 last week in the 24th spot.
Albertus is 22-1 on the year after their 17th-straight victory on Saturday over Lasell College. That league win also puts the Falcons at the top of the conference standings with a perfect 16-0 record.
With two games left on the regular-season schedule, the Falcons have clinched home-court advantage in the upcoming Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament. The Falcons need just one win to tie the program's single-season wins record of 23, which was recorded in 2009-10.
Albertus travels to Providence, R.I. on Tuesday night to take on GNAC foe Johnson & Wales in league action. In their last meeting,the Falcons downed JWU 109-88 at home. In this week's poll, Hope College remained in the top spot for the second-straight week after reaching that position last week for the first time since March 2008. Amherst, MIT and Middlebury round out the top-four teams as all three of those programs are located in the Northeast Region.
