GNAC Weekly Honor Roll Announced

Gambardella, Prevalla Named to GNAC Weekly Honor Roll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 21, 2012) Robert Gambardella (North Haven, Conn.) and Fanol Prevalla (Berlin, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus baseball team have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor Roll for their performances during last week's spring break trip.

Gambardella led the Falcons with nine hits, including two doubles, in the team's opening six games. The junior batted .409 with two RBI and one run scored, while he posted an on-base percentage of .435.

On the week, Gambardella also registered a slugging percentage of .500.

Prevalla recorded a two-RBI base hit in his collegiate debut for the Falcons at Washington & Lee University on March 11. The freshman tallied five hits and walked once in five games played on the week.

Melissa Manning Named to GNAC Weekly Honor Roll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 21, 2012) Sophomore Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus softball team has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)Weekly Honor Roll after an impressive opening week for the program.

Manning led the Falcons both on the rubber and at the plate as she threw four innings in their 4-3 win over Norwich to open up the 2012 season. The sophomore also went 2-for-4 with a season-best five RBI in the Falcons' loss to Gettysburg on March 15.

Manning and the Falcons will open conference play on Friday as the Falcons host Simmons College in a GNAC double-header beginning at 5:00p.m. All home softball games are played at West Haven High School in West Haven, Conn.

Glenn Johnson Named to GNAC Weekly Honor Roll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (March 21, 2012) Albertus Magnus men's volleyball freshman Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts during last week's competition.

Johnson recorded 44 kills for a hitting percentage of .322as he added three service aces and 30 digs in 17 sets played. On the week, the Falcons went 3-2 against their competition.

Johnson led the Falcons with a career-high 20 kills in Albertus' 3-2 loss at Wentworth. He added 12 digs in the match as well.

The Falcons host Emmanuel on Thursday night in a 7:00 p.m. GNAC match-up.
