In May 2013 Gina D'Agostino will graduate with a B.S. degree, a major in marketing … and six credits toward an M.B.A. She is among the first students to take advantage of a new five-year B.S./M.B.A. program at Albertus Magnus College.
"I've been really fortunate to have the opportunity to get a head start on my M.B.A. program during my senior year here at Albertus," she says. "The program puts you on track to get an M.B.A. in one year instead of two, and that's pretty awesome."
One of the advantages of a small college, according to D'Agostino, is that faculty know the students and want them to excel. "My advisor, Professor Raynor, worked with me to make sure I had the right courses to qualify for the new program. I can go to him with any questions."
When first thinking about selecting a college, D'Agostino considered large state schools. She learned about Albertus when an admission counselor visited her high school; what she learned changed her mind about the size of the college she wanted to attend. A campus visit to Albertus made her certain that a small community setting was right for her. Involvement with the Student Government Association and Student Alumni Association at Albertus has changed her career goal?initially focused on marketing or advertising; she now plans to pursue event planning in a college setting.
