On Thursday, February 28, Albertus Magnus College will join more than 100 educational institutions in the first Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day, a global initiative to increase student understanding of philanthropy and grow engagement on campuses. At this time, Albertus Magnus is the only Connecticut institution participating; other participants include University of California at Davis, University College London, Carnegie Mellon University, The Ohio State University and Seton Hall University.
At Albertus Magnus, the event will feature a tag day and social media campaign to educate students about the gifts the College receives, and to give them the opportunity to say thank you to donors. The initiative is organized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and its Affiliated Student Alumni Program (ASAP).
Students will be posting paper tags around campus and removing them on the day of the event. This social media campaign on Twitter and Instagram will feature #AlbertusThanks. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to take photos of the tags and "tweet" or share thanks to the College’s donors. Prizes will be given to the person or people who "give the most thanks.".
The Student Alumni Association, founded last year at Albertus, provides current students with opportunities to meet, interact with, and be mentored by alumni of the College.
