Student-athlete Ray Askew '12 put a new record on the books after nearly every basketball game he played. The Hamden, Connecticut native became the first-ever Albertus Magnus men's basketball player to earn All-American status.
He is the all-time leading rebounder in Albertus and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) history with 1,192 career rebounds, and holds the Albertus record for career points scored—2,316. During his senior year, he scored a career-high of 52 points in a regular season game, and was named GNAC Player of the Week four times, as well as GNAC Player of the Year.
Askew scored 35 or more points in 5 games. He was named to the GNAC All-Conference First Team, GNAC All-Tournament Team and the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Player of the Week three times, along with a host of other honors. He hopes to pursue a career in professional basketball.
