First and foremost, welcome and CONGRATULATIONS to all of you, the newest members of our campus community. I am sure you are anxious to begin your college experience. This August, you will get your first taste of that experience at Orientation. Four years from now, you won't be looking back on high school memories anymore -- rather, you will be reflecting on your time at Albertus - and that time begins this August!
The New Student Orientation Program at Albertus Magnus College is designed to assist new students with their transition from high school to college life. The orientation program introduces students to their home away from home for the next four years regardless of whether or not they live on campus. It is our way to introduce you to all of the wonderful things that Albertus has to offer!
Student Orientation Counselors, also referred to as SOCs, are upper-class students who can answer questions, ease concerns and build community among the new students. Orientation is the first chance that students have to meet other students and make friends. New students are assigned an orientation group that will help them to learn more about Albertus and how they can become a part of our close-knit community.
There are many people on campus who can help students at any time. Students should get to know their Student Orientation Counselors, Resident Assistants, and their faculty. These individuals along with the staff in the Department of Student Services are here to help you with any questions you may have.
Before arriving on campus, new students will receive a tentative orientation schedule in the mail over the summer. This schedule is important to review, as it contains information for both students and parents.
Upon arrival to campus, new students are given an orientation packet (along with some fun goodies) which will give them information about orientation and their first few weeks at Albertus.
We are excited that have chosen Albertus and we look forward to having you as a member of our community!
