LADY FALCONS
2007-2008 SEASON PREVIEW
The Lady Falcons will be a different team than a year ago. With the graduation of starters MIssy Lumas (Milford, CT), Noelle Leonelli (Milford, CT), and First Team All Conference player Candace Young (Hartford, CT), The Lady Falcons will have many holes to fill this season. Coach Panzo will look to his freshman class to provide an immediate impact, "The front court is the key to our success this season," stated Panzo. Newcomers Bianca Brown (West Haven, CT) and Nikki McClease (New Haven, CT) along with sophomore starter Krystal Bryant (New Haven, CT) will anchor a strong front court this season. Guard play will also play a factor this season, but Coach Panzo points to the return of junior point guard Gia Paturzo (North Haven, CT) from a knee injury a year ago. "Gia was sorely missed last season and can hopefully return to form and provide some stability for us in the back court," stated Panzo. The Lady Falcons also see the addition of former 2 year captain Melissa Silver to the staff this season while long time assistant Wendy Bernardo takes time off to be with her new baby and young son. "Wendy will be sorely missed but Melissa brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm, and spirit to the staff. She has successful coaching experience on the High School and AAU levels and is a welcomed addition," said Panzo. The Lady Falcons open their season Tuesday as they play host to the Moutaineers of Southern Vermont College in The Nest at 6:00 PM.
